Twelfth Verse.
December points to the stars with a crook in his hand to represent the shepherds watching their flocks by night. He can also enact the part of Santa Clans driving his reindeer steed, or crawling up and down a chimney. The game can end by his being a Christmas tree loaded with presents for all, while all the children in the ring dance merrily about him.
As this is a very long game it can be played in seasons, that is by representing the three months of Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter; or by playing each month in its turn. It can also be sung at an entertainment by a liltle more detail as to costume. The children can stand in rows of six, or three, each month stepping towards the front of platform and singing its part in regular order.
The Rainbow Fairies.
[Page 36.]
First Verse.
When the children come to tile words sing and swing, they sway softly to and fro with arms extended holding a rainbow. They repeat this swaying movement at the words dance, play, and in chorus.
Second Verse. Repeat same swaying movement to emphasize the words shine, dry, and in chorus.
Third Verse.
Repeat same movement at the words tint, kiss, whirl and twirl, and in chorus. A rainbow can be made of cheese cloth, one yard of each color fastened together according to rainbow colors.
The Clovers.
[Page 79]
First Verse. While singing the word no, the children slowly shake their heads, move them in imitation of cows feeding, point to the ground, and then to the west.
